Scott was a lifelong resident of Canton and a 2009 graduate of Canton High School. He was a three sports athlete in High School, a member of the National Honor Society and the first recipient of The Paul Matthews Senior Cup which is awarded for Significant Contributions in Scholarship, Sportsmanship and Service. In his only semester at Northeastern University, Scott achieved the highest grade in his Engineering class, made the Dean’s List and was captain of his intramural sports team. His life tragically ended in 2010 on an icy road in upstate New York before he could start his second college semester.

The Scott M. Herr Memorial Foundation was established to give back to the students of Canton High School; the school that Scott loved. The Foundation supports the annual scholarship program as well as the Scott Herr Fitness Center at the high school.

Each year there is a golf tournament held at Brookmeadow Country Club in Canton that helps fund the foundation and fitness center at Canton High School.Scott was a good citizen of the Canton community; always unselfish and caring for others during his brief life. It is a tribute to the memory of his character and service that we established this Memorial Foundation.
